ATP Indian Wells: Roger Federer dominates Swiss duel

17 matches on Hardcourt, 17 wins for Roger Federer. The five-time Indian Wells champion has further developed his perfect record against Stan Wawrinka. Federer made a break in both sets to win the much anticipated third-round duel against his compatriot 6: 3, 6: 4.

Federer serves almost perfectly

"The good feeling was there from the beginning, my plan worked: I defended my serve, was dangerous on the return and gave Stan no rhythm," said the "Maestro" after his safe two-stroke win.

Federer only scored ten points on his own service and did not even have to go over a debut. In addition, he was clearly superior to his buddy from the baseline. Wawrinka lacked the right resources this evening to stop the dominant 37-year-old play.

Pete Sampras was also impressed by the presentation of the world ranking fourth. When Federer finished the first set after 28 minutes with a nice serve and volley, "Pistol Pete" scurried across the face in the stands.

Premier duel with Edmund in the second round

In the second round, the playful superiority continued. Federer, who often cut short the rallies with stops, pulled away unstoppable. It continues in the second round against the British Kyle Edmund - a premiere for Federer:

"I've never played him before, his backhand is similar to that of Andy Murray, the forehand is right, the first serve is strong and it will be an exciting match."
