Roger Federer recently announced that he would undergo further knee treatments during the corona break in order to start the 2021 season in good shape. Now he said that the 2021 Olympics was an integral part of his planning.
Federer has become quiet in the past weeks and months. The Swiss underwent a knee surgery in February after having had problems with the Australian Open in January. At that time he announced that he wanted to get fit again for the Olympics and the grass season. Then the Covid 19 pandemic came and shook up the tennis year. The resulting break was used by the “Maestro” to continue treatment at the knee and formulated a new goal to return to the tour in 2021.
"My goal is Tokyo 2021"
A few days ago, the record Grand Slam winner then went public again with a new project. Together with the Swiss sports shoe manufacturer "On", he presented the new shoe "The Roger". As part of the presentation, Federer also spoke about his state of health and his goals. Many fans worried whether Federer would actually attack again. However, the fourth in the world rankings cleared up these doubts. "I have had two operations and I cannot play at the moment, but I am very confident that I will be completely ready in 2021," said the 38-year-old. "My goal is Tokyo 2021. It is a wonderful city. I met my wife at my first games in 2000. It is a very special event for me. "
